It’s that time of year again when I get together with my kid blogger friends across the world to bring you 10 days of a Kid-Made Christmas: Ornaments Inspired By Books. This year I am sharing this cute Burlap Reindeer Ornaments Craft to go with the lovely Nordic children’s book The Reindeer Wish.
I can never resist anything Rudolf, he is just so darn cute! These Burlap Reindeer Ornaments are super simple to make and no-sew too which is always a bonus for me especially during the bust festive holidays!
The use of natural burlap in these reindeer ornaments seemed perfect to go with The Reindeer Wish US / UK by Lori Evert. It’s a Christmas book full of amazing pictures that create a real sense of the natural and a love of the outdoors and animals.
The main character, a little girl called Anja, finds an abandoned baby reindeer and takes great care of it. They become firm friends but eventually the reindeer is so big it yearns to be with its own kind. Anja decides to take him to join Santa’s sleigh team! It is an enormous sacrifice to let her dear friend go but Santa rewards her with something rather special!

How To Make Burlap Reindeer Ornaments
These burlap reindeer ornaments are no-sew so they are really easy to make. Because I was crafting with big kids I used a glue gun which they are very used to. You can still make this reindeer craft without a glue gun by swapping in some fabric glue or PVA instead but you will have to factor in the extra drying times.
Supplies To Make Burlap Reindeer Ornaments
- Burlap US / UK
- Glue Gun US / UK
- Brown Pipe Cleaners US / UK
- Jute Twine US / UK
- Googly Eyes
- Mini Red Pom Poms US / UK
How To Make Burlap Reindeer Ornaments
Start your reindeer craft by cutting a 3 inch / 8cm square of burlap for each reindeer ornament. (Of course you could make bigger ones f you prefer.)
Next cut an 8 inch / 20cm length of jute twine for each reindeer craft. Tie the twine together to make loops. These will be used to hang the ornaments on the Christmas tree.
To make the reindeer ornaments antlers cut your 12inch / 30cm pipe cleaners in half then snip a couple of small sections off the end.
Finish making your reindeer antlers by folding the pipe cleaners in half and wrapping the small sections around them.
To make the reindeer ornaments head fold a small section of the burlap over at the top and the bottom of the square and hold in place with a small dab from the glue gun in the middle.
Fold the sides over at an angle and again glue them into place with a small dab of glue.
Now glue on the antlers and your jute loop for hanging.
Turn your burlap reindeer ornament over and bring him to life by glueing on some googly eyes and a cute red pom pom nose!
How adorable is this little reindeer craft? I think they have turned out so cute! Now you can hang up your reindeer ornaments for everyone to enjoy. I’d like a whole tree full!
