<\/p>\nWe\u2019ve made these totally cute Pinecone Birds and I just adore them. Thinking ahead to Christmas we\u2019ve given one a gorgeous red chest to make a Christmas Robin ornament to hang on the Christmas tree and the others we\u2019ve decorated with different colours to enjoy all year round.<\/p>\n
Aren\u2019t these pinecone birds and pinecone robin adorable? I can never resist a homemade ornament especially if it\u2019s a Nature craft too!<\/p>\n

At Christmas time we like to join in the fun of 10 days of a Kid-Made Christmas organised by the lovely Mama Miss<\/a>. Last year we shared our pretty Handprint Angel Tree Toppers<\/a>\u00a0and this year we\u2019re creating a Christmas craft for kids to make inspired by a favourite book. Books and crafts in one go\u2026it doesn\u2019t get much better than that does it?!<\/p>\n A gorgeous Christmas book we love is Little Robin\u2019s Christmas<\/a>\u00a0it\u2019s about a kind hearted robin who gives all of his warm and colourful vests away to friends in need. He\u2019s left cold, shivering and vest-less on an icy roof until someone very special comes to \u00a0the rescue! It\u2019s a delightful tale that captures the true spirit of Christmas and of course explains how the Robin gets his lovely red vest in the end. A story children will enjoy re-visiting again and again.<\/p>\n To help us enjoy this gorgeous story we\u2019ve made a cute Pinecone Christmas Robin Ornament to hang on the Christmas tree and scroll on down to see our little pine cone robin friend wearing all his other colourful vests too!<\/p>\n What a fantastic craft to bring the story book to life!<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Pine cone crafts are lovely and easy for little hands because basically you\u2019re just sticking on the extra bits to make your character. You might like to see how easily you can turn a pine cone into a\u00a0cute Christmas reindeer ornament<\/a> too. Christmas crafts for kids to make need to be super easy in this house! It\u2019s one of the busiest times of the year with a hundred and one things always waiting to be done. I love crafts like this pinecone robin that can be done the with minimum prep, minimum effort and minimum mess!<\/p>\n 1 \u2013 First of all the children cut out all the little fabric pieces they were going to stick on to their pinecone<\/a>. If you\u2019re doing this craft with younger children you could always pre-cut the pieces for them or draw the shapes onto the fabric for them to cut around. We used the felt to cut diamonds for the beaks and crown type shapes for the feet. We cut burlap <\/a>for the wings and I love the raggedy look this gives. And lastly we cut different fabric round shapes for the different vests. Of course we had to have a red one for a traditional Christmas Robin Red Breast!<\/p>\n 2 \u2013\u00a0Then the children gathered all the pieces together for each individual pine cone and glued<\/a> them on!<\/p>\n 3 \u2013\u00a0We made lots of different pine cone \u2018robins\u2019 with different vests to match the story but you could just make traditional red breasted robins if you preferred.
