<\/p>\nAre you looking for some Easter crafts and activities for the kids that don\u2019t revolve around chocolates and candy? How about some fun and easy Easter Egg Maracas? Your kids will have such a blast learning how to make egg shakers and making their own music!<\/p>\n
These simple DIY maracas are a fun way to reuse plastic Easter eggs. If your house is anything like ours we are awash with them at this time of year! Kids big and small will enjoy this\u00a0colourful maracas craft and it\u2019s a great way to encourage listening skills, music and movement!

It\u2019s very easy to make these egg shakers and we think it\u2019s fun to craft them in pairs giving each set a different sound by varying their fillings. It gives the children a greater breadth of sound for music making and really encourages their listening skills. We like to play a blindfold game where we try to identify the matching pair by sound alone!<\/p>\n

1 \u2013 The handles for the egg shakers are made out of two plastic spoons.<\/a> You might already have coloured plastic spoons but if you only have white ones and would prefer them coloured you can paint them with acrylic paint<\/a> or chalk paint. (It will scratch off over time but does let the children personalise their Easter egg maracas a little more.)<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n 2 \u2013 The sound your homemade maracas make can be varied depending on what you put inside them. Open up a plastic egg<\/a> and fill one half with rice, beans, beads or any other items you have on hand that will make noise when shaken.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n 3 \u2013\u00a0Tape the plastic eggs<\/a> closed with a piece of colourful washi tape<\/a>. (If I am making maracas with young children then I glue the eggs shut too for added safety from the small parts inside.)<\/em><\/p>\n 4 \u2013 You can use your egg shakers as they are but adding a spoon handle makes them easier to hold. Sandwich a plastic Easter egg between two spoons and wrap washi tape around the outside to secure the three pieces together.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n 5 \u2013 Continue wrapping washi tape<\/a> until the whole egg is covered and securely attached to the spoon handles. Washi tape comes in so many gorgeous colours and patterns it\u2019s a really fun and easy way to make each easter egg maraca unique!<\/p>\n It\u2019s so fun to sake and play with your homemade maracas.
