This year I decided to give up chocolate for Lent and it seemed like such a good idea at the start! It hasn\u2019t been easy! As soon as I\u2019d made the decision to do it, yearnings for all things chocolatey\u00a0overtook me and I seemed to be craving it all the time simply because I couldn\u2019t have it. I wouldn\u2019t normally think of chocolate first thing in the morning but I certainly did once I\u2019d given it up!<\/p>\n
After the first week though the yearnings subsided a little and have been fairly manageable until this last week. With knowledge of\u00a0the \u2018end in sight\u2019 those cravings have crept up on me again in a big way and doing lots of chocolatey\u00a0baking and creating with the children in preparation for the big day has been agony!<\/p>\n
Needless to say I am looking forward to munching my way through a mountain of these Easter Chocolate Nests this afternoon. They look so, so cute. I\u2019ve made Easter chocolate nests before with rice crispies\u00a0and cornflakes but I think I\u2019ll be sticking to this version in future because they don\u2019t involve any boiling syrup so the\u00a0children can do it all themselves and they\u00a0really do look so nest like and realistic don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n

(This post contains affiliate links.) Break the chocolate up into a bowl, add the butter and melt gently either in the microwave on medium for a minute or two or over a bowl of warm water. Set it aside to cool for a minute.<\/p>\n In a large bowl crumble the shredded wheat<\/a>.<\/p>\n Stir the melted chocolate into the shredded wheat<\/a> until covered.<\/p>\n Dollop 10 tablespoons of mixture onto a baking tray lined with grease-proof paper<\/a> and use a finger to make a little hollow in the middle.<\/p>\n Pop in 3 mini eggs<\/a> and set aside somewhere cool to set.
