I have\u00a0to admit to having a\u00a0terribly sweet tooth and\u00a0being a bit of a chocoholic. This year, in a moment of madness, I\u00a0decided to give up chocolate for Lent. It\u2019s already been a lot harder than\u00a0I thought and I keep finding myself yearning for something creamy and decadent.<\/p>\n

This Limoncello Tart has proved to be just the thing though. The texture is a super combination of thick, soft and creamy filling combined with\u00a0the crunch of\u00a0a sweet enriched pastry. The filling has lashings of double cream and a light citrus\u00a0hint from the Limoncello Dessert Filling that was sent to me for review from Sugar and Crumbs. It is certainly a decadent dessert and with all the cream and sugar you definitely don\u2019t want to stop to count the calories\u2026but it is oh so worth it.\"Homemade<\/a><\/p>\n

How To Make Limoncello Tart<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ingredients for Limoncello Tart
\n(makes a 22cm tart)<\/span><\/h3>\n

For The Pastry<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 100g softened butter<\/li>\n
  • 75g sugar<\/li>\n
  • 3 egg yolks<\/li>\n
  • 175g plain flour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    For The Filling<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • 250g caster sugar<\/li>\n
    • 300ml double cream<\/li>\n
    • 6 large eggs<\/li>\n
    • 3 tablespoons of Limoncello Dessert Filling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      How To Make Limoncello Tart<\/span><\/h3>\n
        \n
      1. For the pastry, cream the butter and sugar, add the egg yolks and flour and combine to form a soft dough.<\/li>\n
      2. Roll it out and line your flan tin but do not trim, leave the excess overhanging. Lightly wrap in cling-film and pop it in the fridge for 20 minutes. (The pastry will shrink back a little which is why you shouldn\u2019t trim it to size until after it\u2019s done this.)<\/li>\n
      3. Preheat your oven to 180C\/ gas mark 4.<\/li>\n
      4. When your pastry has chilled, trim it off to fit the tin and blind bake for 15 minutes. (You can use baking beans if you have them, I don\u2019t have any and it still worked just fine.)<\/li>\n
      5. Set aside the pastry case to cool and turn the oven down to 170C\/gas mark 3.<\/li>\n
      6. For the filling, add the sugar, eggs and double cream to a large bowl and mix to evenly combine.<\/li>\n
      7. Add the\u00a0Limoncello Dessert Filling\u00a0one spoon at a time and stir gently to mix. Do a taste test; you may prefer a stronger or more subtle citrus taste so adjust your quantities accordingly.<\/li>\n
      8. Pour the filling into the pastry case and bake for 45 minutes until lightly coloured and set.<\/li>\n
      9. Allow to cool and dust with icing sugar.<\/li>\n
      10. I served mine with an additional drizzle of Limoncello because it looked really pretty and added an extra\u00a0flash of zing. (I\u00a0 shall have to admit to also\u00a0having mine with an added spoon of double cream too\u2026pure wickedness!)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        This dessert has been a big hit at home and\u00a0was wolfed down in next to no time. I found the Limoncello Dessert Filling really easy to use and I think it will be great when\u00a0I haven\u2019t got any fresh citrus fruits or the time to fiddle about with squeezing and zesting.\u00a0 I like that it can be used as\u00a0either a\u00a0standalone sauce or filling or stirred into products too; a versatile addition to the pantry.<\/p>\n
