Celebrate Christmas with an adorable Dancing Newspaper Elf Craft. You can of course make this cheeky elf from ordinary paper or card but we LOVE the recycled element!<\/p>\n
These\u00a0paper elves have\u00a0concertina folded legs that move when you wiggle the backing paper so it looks like\u00a0they\u2019re dancing!<\/p>\n
You can make this Christmas elf craft with painted newspaper, coloured paper or by colouring in the printable template.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve added wiggle eyes, pompoms and a bell to our elves but the template comes with paper eyes and trimmings you can use instead if you prefer.<\/p>\n

How To Make Dancing Paper Elves<\/h2>\n

2 \u2013 If you\u2019re using newspaper paint some sheets with watered down paint so a little newsprint still shows through. Template page 1 needs plain paper, page 2 needs red (you can do stripes for the legs) and page 3 needs green.<\/p>\n

4 \u2013 Trace around the template pieces onto the painted newspaper and cut them out.<\/p>\n

5 \u2013 Concertina fold the elf\u2019s legs and glue the boots onto the ends. Glue both legs onto the bottom of your sheet of backing paper.<\/p>\n

6 \u2013 Glue a red pom pom or round red paper trimming onto the curl of the elf\u2019s boots.<\/p>\n

7 \u2013 Concertina fold the top two thirds of the elf\u2019s green hat. Glue it above the legs and curve it to one side as you stretch it to the top of your backing paper.<\/p>\n

8 \u2013 Glue a bell or a round red paper trimming ball to the top of the hat. (Please be careful with small children as the bells could be a choking hazard.)<\/p>\n

9 \u2013 Glue the elf\u2019s face and ears onto the front of the hat. Draw or glue on a face. We used wiggle eyes and a pompom nose but there are paper eyes and a paper pompom included with your template if you prefer.<\/p>\n
10 \u2013 Glue your zig zag trimmings on; one below the head for a collar and one above the head for the hat brim.<\/p>\n
Wiggle your elf from side to side to make his leg dance about!<\/p>\n
