Today we are sharing some awesome cool shark facts your kids will LOVE. \u00a0With shark week looming Summer is a fantastic time to get the kids learning about and loving sharks. Sharks are such fascinating creatures and so varied!<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to fathom but humans kill more than 100 million sharks every year! That\u2019s why it\u2019s so important we teach kids about sharks. Our planet and future generations will be all the better for it.<\/p>\n

1 \u2013 The fear of sharks is called Galeophobia. <\/span><\/p>\n

2 \u2013 \u00a0There isn\u2019t much to fear though. It\u2019s far more likely that you\u2019ll get hurt by a toilet than by a shark. In 1996, toilets injured 43,000 Americans. Guess how many people were injured by sharks that year? Only 13.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 \u2013 Sharks constantly shed and replace their teeth. Over its lifetime, a shark may lose up to 30,000 of its pearly whites. <\/span><\/p>\n

4 \u2013 Sharks don\u2019t chew their food. They swallow it whole. Some sharks can go a month or more without eating!<\/span><\/p>\n

5 \u2013 Since dentists don\u2019t live in the water, it\u2019s probably a very good thing that sharks don\u2019t get cavities. Their teeth are covered in <\/span>fluoride.<\/span><\/p>\n

6 \u2013 Tiger Sharks will eat just about anything. Some have been found with license plates and old tires in their stomachs. <\/span><\/p>\n

7 \u2013 \u00a0Don\u2019t be fooled because you can\u2019t see a shark\u2019s ears. A <\/span>yummy-hum<\/span><\/i> is a low-pitched sound sharks hear that helps them find food. They can even hear an injured fish from as far away as the length of 2 football fields.<\/span><\/p>\n

8 \u2013 Everyone poops \u2013 even sharks!<\/span><\/p>\n

9 \u2013 Blue Sharks don\u2019t seem to know when to quit. They\u2019ll pig out until they throw up \u2013 and then they\u2019ll start eating again. They can\u2019t seem to help themselves! <\/span><\/p>\n

10 \u2013 The Greenland Shark is the longest-living vertebrate on Earth. There are some in the ocean today that were swimming around before the United States was a country.<\/span><\/p>\n

11 \u2013 Sharks come in all shapes and sizes and there are at least 500 different species.<\/span><\/p>\n

12- The Whale Shark is the largest shark in the ocean and is about the length of a school bus. They are called gentle giants and divers often swim with them. \u00a0Whale Sharks swim close to the surface of the water with their mouths open to catch plankton. <\/span><\/p>\n

13 \u2013 The exact opposite is the Dwarf Lantern Shark. It\u2019s tummy lights up and it\u2019s so small it could fit in your hand. It only grows to about 6-8 inches long!<\/span><\/p>\n
