Our Easter Colour Matching and Math Game is so bright and irresistible for kids, they\u2019ll love playing with it! While the kids are busy having fun they\u2019ll be developing their colour and math skills too.<\/p>\n

Kids will adore playing this matching game posting tasty chocolate Easter eggs down coloured tubes to land in cute coloured Easter baskets at the bottom. There are loads of fun learning opportunities to be had through play such as:<\/p>\n

While you\u2019re here don\u2019t forget to take a peek at all our other fun Easter ideas <\/a>too.<\/p>\n You\u2019ll probably already have the materials you need to make this game in your recycling box, so there\u2019s minimal cost and it\u2019s very quick to make.<\/p>\n We started with three colours to match but you could use more or less depending on the ability of your child. First we\u00a0chose three colours of chocolate eggs<\/a> and then made the posting tubes and Easter baskets to match those colours.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n We coloured our cardboard tubes with tissue paper<\/a>, simply wrapping it round, securing it with tape and tucking in the ends. Tissue paper comes in so many gorgeous bright colours that kids will love and you can easily change the colours too and it\u2019s much quicker and easier than painting!<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n To make the nests to collect the chocolate eggs<\/a> that are posted down the tubes we used some old yogurt pots and colour matched them to the tubes with pretty ribbon<\/a>. Then we filled the Easter nests with shredded paper which gives us a great opportunity for kids to develop their scissor or tearing skills\u00a0making comfy nests for their eggs to land in.<\/span><\/p>\n To set up the Easter game we simply taped the tubes onto a wall and placed the corresponding colour of nest underneath.<\/p>\n Now ready for kids to start colour sorting, posting and counting their eggs. What fun!<\/p>\n We love playing and learning check out<\/p>\n This is a great game to play and have fun with your child. While your kids are having an exciting time dropping coloured eggs<\/a> into the matching tubes there are opportunities for you to support colour recognition and math skills as they play.<\/p>\n Can you child recognise and sort colours?<\/span><\/p>\n Encourage your child to sort and match colours and check their knowledge with a few questions. What is this colour? Can you find a pink egg for the pink tube? Can you find me some eggs the same colour? Can you find me some eggs with different colour<\/em>s?<\/p>\n Can your child count accurately?<\/span><\/p>\n Ask them to pick up eggs counting aloud. Kids may recite numbers with confidence but may not yet understand what each number re presents.Handling eggs as they count helps them to understand that the name\/number 5 represents 5 objects.<\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Can your child sort the eggs by combining colour with number and can they compare amounts?<\/span><\/p>\n Mix all the chocolate eggs<\/a> into one pile and ask them to find you a particular colour. Ask them to find you a specific number of eggs. Can they find both colour and number combined e.g. 7 yellow eggs? Kids enjoy sorting and will like organising the bright eggs into lines.\u00a0 Involve then in some math thinking with questions about which line is the longest or which the shortest. Children can count and compare the total in each line.<\/em><\/p>\n Is your child ready to enjoy early math operations?<\/span><\/p>\n Try some basic addition and subtraction keeping it fun and challenging appropriate to your child\u2019s ability. Mummy has got 7 chocolate eggs<\/a> and she is going to eat 2. How has she got left? When working with math it\u2019s important that kids can handle and count out the eggs. This hands on approach will help their understanding of math and problem solving. through kinaesthetic learning.<\/em><\/p>\n Would your child like to challenge you?<\/span><\/p>\n Older kids will be able to sort the eggs accurately and drop chocolate eggs<\/a> into the nests with speed.\u00a0 Kids will enjoy being given challenges such as seeing how quickly they can sort 10 eggs down the tubes. They\u2019ll love you to time them and to accept a challenge to beat them! They may like to record their times on a chart or graph.<\/em><\/p>\n Our Easter Colour Matching And Math Game is irresistible. While your kids are busy having fun you are supporting them to develop their colour and math skills. We get to eat the delicious chocolate eggs too.
