My favourite is the bakery where I will always choose a fresh cream chocolate eclair, the bigger the better. There is <strong>something wonderful about the mix of crisp choux shell\u00a0and soft fluffy cream and the slow melt of chocolate.<\/strong> MMmmmm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The children suggested trying to make chocolate eclairs and \u00a0I am so, so glad they did. I thought it would be really tricky which is why I\u2019d never\u00a0attempted it before, but if\u00a0I can do it first time then anyone can!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I think the caterpillar chocolate eclair recipe is a really good one for children to help with too, once you\u2019ve got past the first stage of boiling water, the rest involves lots of vigorous beating which is perfect for little ones. <strong>I will be coming back to this chocolate eclair recipe to again and again.<a href=\"https:\/\/kidscraftroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Caterpillar-Chocolate-Eclairs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10262\" src=\"https:\/\/kidscraftroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Caterpillar-Chocolate-Eclairs.jpg\" alt=\"Make cute CATERPILLAR CHOCOLATE ECLAIRS\" width=\"690\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kidscraftroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Caterpillar-Chocolate-Eclairs.jpg 690w, https:\/\/kidscraftroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Caterpillar-Chocolate-Eclairs-600x344.jpg 600w, https:\/\/kidscraftroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Caterpillar-Chocolate-Eclairs-300x172.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" data-pin-media=\"https:\/\/kidscraftroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Caterpillar-Chocolate-Eclairs.jpg\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #28d0d7;\">Ingredients To Make Chocolate Eclairs<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>(Makes 8 Large Caterpillar Chocolate Eclairs)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>125g butter<\/li>\n<li>250ml water<\/li>\n<li>150g plain flour<\/li>\n<li>4 eggs<\/li>\n<li>300ml double cream<\/li>\n<li>100g chocolate<\/li>\n<li>24 white chocolate buttons.<\/li>\n<li>Optional 25g white chocolate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #28d0d7;\"><strong>How To Make Caterpillar Chocolate Eclairs<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 180c.<\/li>\n<li>In a saucepan heat the butter and water until the butter melts and the water boils.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and add in all the flour and beat with a wooden spoon until it forms a smooth dough.<\/li>\n<li>Add each egg, one at a time, beating vigorously until a smooth thick batter has been formed.<\/li>\n<li>On a greased baking tray drop 4 heaped teaspoons of\u00a0batter in a row, just touching each other, for each caterpillar. Repeat to make 8 caterpillars.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 40 minutes\u00a0until risen and golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>When cooked and cooled cut each one in half lengthways.<\/li>\n<li>Whip the cream and spoon in to fill each caterpillar.<\/li>\n<li>Melt the chocolate and spread it onto each caterpillars\u2019 top. Before it sets pop on your chocolate button eyes and noses.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to you can drizzle melted white chocolate over too.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I don\u2019t think I will ever bother buying shop made chocolate eclairs again; these tasty caterpillars were easy and fun and the children enjoyed the vigorous beating stage immensely.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I shall be experimenting with different sizes, shapes, fillings and toppings in the future.
