Puppets are such a great way to encourage kids’ imaginations, play and storytelling. Why not inspire your kid’s creativity with this cute PINEAPPLE PAPER BAG PUPPET?

Made with just a few simple supplies, this quick and easy pineapple craft is sure to put a smile on your little one’s face! I particularly love the green top that is made out of handprints. I can never resist a handprint craft, they’re so cute and make such great keepsakes!

These pineapple puppets are the perfect summer craft for kids. They just shout, sunshine don’t they? Whether you use it for dramatic play or for putting on a impromptu puppet show, this sweet little pineapple craft is sure to be a big hit.

They can make their pineapple puppets as silly or serious as they like. They can have fun adding other embellishments too. How about a funny hat, glasses or bow tie?

These pineapple puppets are so simple, once kids have made one they’ll quickly be able to come up with lots of ideas of their own for other paper bag puppets too. We already made a paper bag strawberry puppet to go with our pineapple character. They are so fun to play with together. Why not experiment with lots of fruity puppets of your own?

Once your puppets are made, it’s great fun to put on little puppet shows and bring your characters to life. We love giving our puppets lots of different funny voices!

Paper Bag Pineapple Puppet Craft

Supplies:

  • Yellow Paper Bags
  • Green Cardstock
  • Black Sharpie Pen
  • Pink Paper
  • White Paper
  • 1 Inch Circle Punch
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How To Make A Cute Pineapple Puppet

Handprint Pineapple Puppet step 1.

1 – To create the diamond pattern on your pineapple, flatten the yellow paper bag and turn it upside down so the opening is on the bottom.  Draw diagonal strips across it with a black Sharpie and ruler. We kept ours the width of the ruler apart so there was no fiddly measuring to keep them even.

Handprint Pineapple Puppet step 2.

2 – Then do exactly the same with lines going across the other way.

Handprint Pineapple Puppet step 3.

3 – To give a pineapple type shape, cut off the bottom two corners of the bag.

Handprint Pineapple Puppet step 4.

4 – To make your handprint pineapple top, cut out 4 handprints from green cardstock. To reduce the cutting, we folded a piece of cardstock in half and then half again to give 4 layers.

Handprint Pineapple Puppet step 5.

5 – Arrange your handprints to make the pineapple top shape and glue them together.

Pineapple Paper Bag Puppet step 6.

6 – Open up the base of the paper bag (now at the top), insert the handprints and glue it shut.

Pineapple Paper Bag Puppet step 7.

7 – Your pineapple puppet needs a cute face so punch two white circles for eyes and draw on pupils with a black Sharpie. Glue them on.

Pineapple Paper Bag Puppet step 8.

8 – Cut out two pink paper circles with your hole punch to make the pineapple’s cheeks. Glue them on and finish off your puppet by drawing on a happy smile.

Now you can pop your hand inside and and bring your paper bag pineapple puppet to life. I wonder what sort of personality he’ll have? Ours is really cheeky and funny!
