I’m delighted to be working with the new and exciting Dulux Kids Bedroom campaign to bring you this fun Jungle Scene Playset made from toilet paper roll crafts.

This playset is an easy and fun craft to make with kids to compliment Dulux’s kids Jungle Scene bedroom; just one of 6 wonderful and easy to achieve bedroom themes kids will adore.

Dulux wants to encourage us parents to involve the children in the creative process of bedroom decorating. Not only is it enormous fun to decorate together but they also believe that giving kids the opportunity to help design and create a bedroom that’s personal to them can be important to their development and help them grow emotionally and creatively.

Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director at Dulux says:

Interestingly, if kids have a say in what their room looks like they’re more likely to spend time in it. But it’s not actually about how it looks – it’s doing it together that’s really important. If you’re already decorating their bedroom and you want them to get the most out it, simply involve them in the decision making process.

Expert Developmental Psychologist, Dr. Sam Wass, states:

Children typically create little things, but the bedroom is the first real, permanent thing that they can influence. Involving a child helps them to establish their own inner space and the image that they want to project to others. And for parents, having a chance to work together with their children can really help to establish a stable, respectful relationship.

I still remember being allowed to choose the colours of my own bedroom when I was 8 years old. I chose brown walls and bright red woodwork! It may not have been to everyone’s taste but it gave me such a sense of pride and ownership over my own space and I’m immensely grateful to my parents for giving me that opportunity.

To help kids and parents get started on the exciting process of bedroom decorating Dulux have created 6 bedroom themes based around kids common passion points.

My 8 year old self would have adored any of these and my grown up mummy self loves how the themes have longevity and will work well for tiny tots right up to teens and how easy they are to achieve!

Click on each link above to see the full how to’s and supply lists. The paint used in each fun design is Dulux Endurance+ Matt which is super tough and washable, perfect for standing up to the antics of your little astronauts and jungle explorers!

Dulux have even created a video of each bedroom theme being made so you can really see how easy each technique is and how transforming your kids bedroom couldn’t be easier.

Which bedroom theme would your kids choose? We adore them all!

Of course, once your kid’s bedroom is finished, having fun creating together needn’t stop there. Why not raid your recycling bin and craft up some simple decorations or toys to compliment the new bedroom design? The kids and I had a roaring good time making this Jungle Scene Playset with wild animals made from toilet paper roll crafts. It will look fab in a Jungle themed bedroom! Scroll on down to see how we did it.

How To Make A Toilet Paper Roll Snake

How-To-Make-A-Cardboard-Tube-Snake. This Jungle Scene Playset looks amazing and is so easy to make using toilet paper roll crafts. Such a great way to spark creativity and imaginative play!

For each snake paint a toilet paper roll inside and out. We chose different colours but you could do it all one colour if you prefer.

When the cardboard tubes are dry, cut them from one end to the other in a spiral, starting thick and getting thinner.

Snip round the thick end to make a head shape and paint or stick on any other decorative patterns you want down the snake’s back.

Finish your cardboard tube snake with some googly eyes. You can even stick on a paper forked tongue too if you like. These toilet paper roll snakes are perfect for slithering along the jungle floor and they look pretty cool wrapped around your wrist as a pet snake too!

How To Make A Toilet Paper Roll Monkey

How-To-Make-A-Cardboard-Tube-Monkey. This Jungle Scene Playset looks amazing and is so easy to make using toilet paper roll crafts. Such a great way to spark creativity and imaginative play!

No jungle scene playset would be complete without a monkey or two! Use scissors to round the head and cut out two monkey ears from the top of your toilet paper roll and pull them out to the side.

Paint your monkey any colour you like and let it dry.

Once your cardboard tube monkey is dry, draw or paint on a face and stick on some fun googly eyes.

Your monkey can’t swing through the trees of your jungle scene playset without a long curly tail, so simply glue on a brown pipe cleaner and he’ll be ready to hunt for some bananas!

How To Make A Toilet Paper Roll Elephant

How-To-Make-A-Cardboard-Tube-Elephant. This Jungle Scene Playset looks amazing and is so easy to make using toilet paper roll crafts. Such a great way to spark creativity and imaginative play!

Cardboard tube elephants are easy to make and super fun to stomp through your jungle! Start by cutting two slits on opposite sides of your toilet paper roll to make the elephant’s trunk and tail. Take them about 1/3 of the way up the cardboard roll and then snip the tail tab into a point.

To make the elephant’s ears, cut down the tube halfway above the tail. Then cut a little way round the middle towards the front to make two large flaps. Pull these flaps out to the side and round their edges to make large ears.

To make the cardboard tube elephant’s legs cut a little semi circle out of each side. You can also easily make tusks by snipping up the inner front of each leg to make thin triangles and pulling them forward.

Finish your toilet paper roll elephant by painting and adding jolly googly eyes.

How To Make Toilet Paper Roll Trees For Your Jungle Scene Playset

How-To-Make-Toilet-Paper-Roll-Trees. This Jungle Scene Playset looks amazing and is so easy to make using toilet paper roll crafts. Such a great way to spark creativity and imaginative play!

Every Jungle Scene Playset needs greenery and these cardboard tube trees are super easy to make. Each tree needs a toilet paper roll and a paper plate. Paint your cardboard tube brown for the tree trunk and the paper plate green and allow to dry.

Cut the paper plate in half and add a slit from the bottom of one to the middle and from the top of one to the middle. Cut 4 short slits equal distance apart around the top of the trunk too.

Slot the paper plate halves together using the slits and then sit them into the slits on the trunk to make a 3D cardboard tree.

Finish off your jungle scene trees with any other decorations you like. We added some mini pom poms to ours for exotic fruit for our jungle animals to forage!

Would you think about letting your kids have a say in their own bedroom design? Perhaps you have a nature lover that would adore playing with our jungle scene playset in their own jungle bedroom? Or maybe you have a budding astronaut or circus performer? Why not show them Dulux’s bedroom ideas to see which matches their personality and sparks their imagination. The sky’s the limit! This Jungle Scene Playset looks amazing and is so easy to make using toilet paper roll crafts. Such a great way to spark creativity and imaginative play!

We hope you have as much fun flower making with paper as we did.
