Have you heard of Sugru? It’s the world’s “first mouldable glue that turns into rubber”. What? Crazy huh!
There are hundreds of practical uses for Sugru around the home and I couldn’t resist getting creative and trying a bit of Sugru crafting too! This colourful DIY Rubber Jacks Game has been so easy to make and such fun to play with.
I’ve found Sugru such an easy to use and useful product that I reckon when you’ve seen what it can do you’re going to wonder how on earth you ever survived without it! I certainly am!
Sugru Uses
Sugru is unlike anything I’ve worked with before. It’s a mouldable glue for grown-ups that comes in a lovely wide range of colours. It feels and acts quite like play dough but when it’s left to cure over night it turns into rubber!
It says that once you open the packet you’ve got half an hour to shape and mould it to suit your needs but I found it stayed workable for about an hour. It sticks to pretty much anything and is advertised as having a 6 in 1 formula being able to “fix, bond, cushion, replace, create and seal” which makes it super flexible for all sorts of household DIY tasks.
The first thing I used Sugru for was to fix a kitchen knife whose blade had come away from the handle. I’d previously tried super glue with no luck and was actually ready to give up and throw the knife away! Having nothing to lose I thought I’d give the silver Sugru a chance and popped a bit in the handle’s hole and a bit around the blade and it’s as good as new! Amazing stuff!
I love that you can even mix the colours to get just the right shade for your particular DIY task. You can see how I mixed yellow and blue Sugru together to make the green I needed for my Jacks Game.

How To Make A DIY Jacks Game – Sugru Craft
Creating this rubber Jacks Game was so easy with Sugru. Using half a little pack for each Jack I broke the Sugru into 7 equal pieces. I rolled one into a ball and the other 6 into little cones.
Then I gently pushed the cones into place around the outside of the ball. The Sugru sticks to itself really well instantly so there’s no need to use any other glue or hold bits in place while they set. It really was super, super quick.
Once I’d made all the Jacks Game pieces I folded a length of paper to create a make-shift drying rack so they could be left over night to cure.
I used some left over Sugru colours squashed and swirled together to make a colourful Rubber Ball for the Jacks Game. The kids love this little rubber ball and it’s just bouncy enough to play a game of jacks without being too bouncy for the kids to handle.
I’m sure Sugru will lend itself well to hundreds of different uses around the home and I’m already looking forward to experimenting with more Sugru craft ideas in the future too.
Safety Notice
Sugru is not certified child safe so I cannot recommend it’s use by children. However, it is wonderfully colourful and can be moulded like play dough and dries to a rubber which my kids were instantly attracted to! I made a personal choice to let my own children help me with this Sugru craft and supervised them thoroughly throughout and washed their hands afterwards. We play this Jacks Game as a family and my children are not left unattended with any Sugru product.
