Supplies To Make A Thanksgiving Paper Feather Craft:
- Printable Turkey Craft Template
- White Printer Card or Paper
- Marker Pens
- Scissors
- Glue
How To Make A Paper Feathered Turkey Craft that Develops Scissor Skills
1 – Download and print your turkey and feather templates onto white printer card. You can choose a full colour version or a black and white version to colour in yourself. (Get yours at the end of this post.)
2 – If you are choosing the black and white turkey template colour in the turkey and feathers with marker pens, paints or crayons.
3 – Cut out the printable turkey and feathers.
4 – Show the children how to make a paper feather by folding it lengthways and snipping into each side repeatedly. Be careful not to go all the way through!
5 – When all your turkey feathers are ready glue them in a fan onto white card.
6 – Finish your Thanksgiving craft by glueing the turkey’s body into the middle of the fan of tail feathers.
This printable turkey craft is great fun for Thanksgiving and looks super coloured in yourself or using the ready coloured option. The textured feathers give kids loads of opportunity to practice cutting with scissors.
Of course the feathers can be used to make other birds at different times of the year or simply as a stand alone scissor cutting activity to build fine motor skills.
