This easy basket of corn craft is wonderfully 3D and full of fun!

The templates come in three sets.  A pre-coloured corn craft template for quick assembly, a black and white template for kids to get creative and colour and decorate themselves and a third set that can be traced or printed onto coloured paper.

To support different ages and abilities, the corn comes in two cutting shapes: a simple oval shape that is easy for younger children to cut out, and a lumpy, bumpy shape like real corn kernels, that gives older children a slightly more advanced cutting challenge.

How to Make An Easy Cut and Paste Basket of Corn Craft

This easy basket of corn craft for kids is a great way to celebrate the season!

With its cheerful design, engaging play value, and flexible printable corn craft templates, it’s sure to be a hit with kids, parents, and teachers alike!

Craft Supplies:

  • CORN COB TEMPLATE (You can also get the printable pdf files from my TPT store)
  • White Paper or Cardstock Paper
  • Coloured Backing Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Marker Pen
  • Optional: Colouring Materials

Corn Craft Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1 - Cut out corn shapes, husks, and basket pieces for corn craft.

Step 1 – Cut out the template pieces. If you are using the black and white template colour it first.

(There are two different designs of corn templates. If you want a simple corn craft for toddlers or as a preschool craft then you can use the simple oval shape heads of corn. Older kids will enjoy cutting out the lumpy bumpy corn.)

Step 2 -Start gluing basket pieces onto blue background.

Step 2 – Glue a short piece of basket horizontally onto the middle bottom of your backing sheet. Then glue a short piece of basket onto either end of the basket base. Fan them outwards slightly.

Step 3 - Hand arranging vertical basket strips on background.

Step 3 – Glue the last two short pieces of basket onto the middle of the basket base. Only glue them at their bottoms. Their tops need to be loose.

Step 4 - Upper 3D basket frame glued on background.

Step 4 – Fold the ends of the long basket piece along the dotted lines to make tabs. Glue the tabs onto the the two sides to make an arched basket top.

Step5 - Hand holding curved basket piece to complete 3D basket.

Step 5 – Apply some glue to the top of the two loose middle basket pieces. Push the glued tops on to the back of the arch.

Step 6 – Glue the eyes onto the heads of corn and draw a happy smile.

Step 7 – Have fun putting your harvest of corn in and out of the basket!

More Decorating Ideas

If you are using the black and white Indian corn template you can have a great time painting the corn with yellow paint, or printing a texture with bubble wrap, or even screwing up little bits of tissue paper to glue on as kernels!
