How To Make Cute Jumping Spiders, BOING!
We love spider crafts, they’re great for playing with, singing Itsy Bitsy Spider or Little Miss Muffet with and of course they are great for Halloween. Some of our reader favourites have been Climbing Spiders and our adorable Itsy Bitsy Play Set.
This jumping spider craft is one of the simplest and fastest we’ve made so far! Whether your kids want to make just one or a whole house full of jumping spiders they can make and be playing with these in just minutes.
Start off by adding a drop of UHU Glue to the back of your pom pom and lay on 8 matchstick legs. I LOVE UHU Glue for this spider craft because it’s so quick to dry and kids aren’t left holding things in place for ages while it hardens and can get playing with their jumping spiders pretty much straight away. It also washes off hands really easily.
Next add a length of elastic for the spider to jump and bounce about on. You’ll need to choose a thin, slack elastic because the pom pom spiders are so light and won’t jump unless the elastic is really easily stretched.
To be honest the thread we used that you can see in the photographs is a little on the thick side and we’ve learnt from this that we’d be better off with something thinner and looser next time.
To help the spiders legs and elastic stay in place we cut out a little circle of card stock to stick over the top of them.
To finish off your jumping spider craft simply flip them over and add some googly eyes and a card stock mouth too to make a cheeky and cute expression!
Once they’re dry which won’t take long at all if you’ve used UHU Glue, kids can have lots of fun bouncing and jumping their cheeky pom pom spiders up and down. Boing, boing, boing!
