Delicious Easter Chocolate Nests to make with the kids. so fun!
This year I decided to give up chocolate for Lent and it seemed like such a good idea at the start! It hasn’t been easy! As soon as I’d made the decision to do it, yearnings for all things chocolatey overtook me and I seemed to be craving it all the time simply because I couldn’t have it. I wouldn’t normally think of chocolate first thing in the morning but I certainly did once I’d given it up!
After the first week though the yearnings subsided a little and have been fairly manageable until this last week. With knowledge of the ‘end in sight’ those cravings have crept up on me again in a big way and doing lots of chocolatey baking and creating with the children in preparation for the big day has been agony!
Needless to say I am looking forward to munching my way through a mountain of these Easter Chocolate Nests this afternoon. They look so, so cute. I’ve made Easter chocolate nests before with rice crispies and cornflakes but I think I’ll be sticking to this version in future because they don’t involve any boiling syrup so the children can do it all themselves and they really do look so nest like and realistic don’t you think?
How To Make Easter Chocolate Nests
Easter Nest Ingredients

(makes approximately 10 mini nests or 5 large ones)
- 2oo g milk chocolate
- 25 g dark chocolate
- 25 g butter
- 100 g shredded wheat
- sugar coated mini eggs
- grease-proof paper
- baking tray
How To Make Cute Easter Nests
Break the chocolate up into a bowl, add the butter and melt gently either in the microwave on medium for a minute or two or over a bowl of warm water. Set it aside to cool for a minute.
In a large bowl crumble the shredded wheat.
Stir the melted chocolate into the shredded wheat until covered.
Dollop 10 tablespoons of mixture onto a baking tray lined with grease-proof paper and use a finger to make a little hollow in the middle.
Pop in 3 mini eggs and set aside somewhere cool to set. (Not the fridge.)
Store in an airtight container.
